A colourful finding at the side of the road
A chance find not far from the monument in honour of the monk Thich Quang Duc, who set himself on fire in Saigon on 11 June 1963 to protest against the oppression of the Buddhists. At a street stall I was struck by the colorful titles of the newspapers.
In spite of the late hour, the newspaper saleswoman manages to get a good deal: I buy all the available titles from her, as long as they are just colourful. This obviously pleases and amuses her – thus my new collection of international newspapers is opened.
